Trick or Treating

Macen couldn't wait to go trick or treating. The last several days he has been saying trick or treat. A few nights ago, we were at the table eating dinner when the doorbell rang and Macen said "trick or treat" immediately. Here he is waiting at the door for us.
We stayed on our cul de sac and after the first house he said "another house" and kept saying it after each house. James and I laughed. As we were walking to the third house he added "I like trick or treat". We laughed even harder. It didn't take him long to figure out saying trick or treat and thank you got him candy each and every time.
After we got home, it was time to examine the goods.

Happy Halloween

Pumpkin Carving

We carved our pumpkins for Halloween and went the simple route this year. Too much going on to get crazy with them. Macen didn't offer to help. He just sat on the island banging on the pans overhead until Charlie Brown came on. Then he didn't want anything to do with us or our pumpkins :)

Pumpkin Patch

We headed to the pumpkin patch this past weekend. Macen got to explore with his cousins, grandma, aunts and uncles.

He's getting tall.

The kids loved these cut outs.

The ship and slides were a big hit with Macen. He keeps asking for a pirate ship so hopefully this was enough to suffice him for a bit.

They had makeshift horses set up and a wrought iron bull heads about 5 ft in front of the horses so the kids could rope the bull. Well Macen immediately roped his own horse. And no matter how much help he got to throw the rope out, he just wanted to rope his horse.

We took the ride to the pumpkin patch this year. I searched for a small pumpkin to join our big ones at home. Brianna found the smallest, cutest pumpkin. Macen kept saying "yuck" to all the smashed pumpkins he saw.

When we got back from the pumpkin patch, we watched the pig races. I think Macen liked moving to the music more though.

Halloween Party

We went to a Halloween party the local community put on and Macen loved it. He is a turtle this year for Halloween. It was his first time trick or treating and he did great. It was a trunk or treat and he said trick or treat each time followed with a thank you. He ate all the smarties he got. They had a bunch of bouncers for the kids and Macen spent time in nearly all of them. His favorite was the one with the slide. Amazingly, he left without a fight when we told him was time to go.

Fall leaves

We've had perfect weather this week so Macen has been playing in the leaves. I rake them into a pile and he scatters them. Then he asks "Where'd pile of leaves go?" We have beautiful trees in our yard right now but they are quickly disappearing.

Pool Time!!!

Here are pics from the splash park and pool on the ship. We had been telling Macen since the day before left he was going to get to swim everyday for the next week. Thankfully we all had swimsuits in our carry ons so Macen could get near the water immediately. In fact, the morning we woke on the boat Macen asked for chocolate milk first thing and as soon as he was done drinking it, he got out of bed and said "Go to the pool". He was ready!

Blowing bubbles in the pool - salt water nonetheless. Macen didn't seem to mind.

Macen spent hours at the splash park the last day. He doesn't like being in the water much when it is a deeper pool but he loves splash parks and kiddie pools that he can wade in.

This pic below was something they had dividing the pool (not sure why) but Macen liked walking on it over the water. He did slip a couple of times and one of those times sent him off and under the water. Of course, he fell on the opposite side to where James was so and thankfully there were some ladies watching Macen "walk the plank" and one of them scooped him up immediately. We didn't like him walking on it after that but the few times he crossed it again, he used his knees and stayed low.

Cozumel

Cozumel was family day and since Shantel and I had been there before we thought the best thing to do was go on a beach excursion. This one had drinks and an all you can buffet included so it was an all day affair. Macen and I playing in the sand. I had thought we would build a sand castle, but more on that later.

Me posing with a parrot. We tried to get Macen to hold it but he just wanted to check it out and have Daddy hold it.

Here are the results of my sand castle. Every time I'd get one started Macen decided he wanted to destroy it. Thanks kid, I really appreciate that.
Macen showing off his muscles. We were trying to get him to eat and telling him he needed to eat to get big and strong, so he's flexing to show off how big his muscles are. Macen burying Daddy's feet. He thought this was realy cool and would let us bury his feet as well.
Macen is collecting sea shells and rocks from the beach here and he did cart them all the way back to Kansas.

A close up family photo on the beach!!

The full length photo on the beach.

Momma's turn!!! Macen is wanting Momma to look for sea shells with him.
