Feet in the Sand

The weather has been really warm so we hit up our favorite summer spot in IN and took Mariah with us.

Fins to the Left, Fins to the Right

A great concert! A little tailgating beforehand and time with the husband = perfection!

The boys each made a birdhouse and they've already had birds visit. They also wanted to pick out flowers for the backyard and have been taking care of them on their own.

Update: Apparently a squirrel has also found the birdhouses and he is eating all the food. We've also had an abundance of bunnies in the backyard and we finally figured out why. Macen had brought home a cabbage plant from school and when we got the tomatoes and peppers planted, we added the cabbage plant. It has went crazy out there and is huge. We think the bunnies are liking it! Lots of activity in the backyard these days. Myles has been chattering away at all the birds.

Batter Up!

Macen's season started crazy with tornado sirens going off at the ball field and ended crazy with a lightning delay with downpours of rain that eventually got the game called at the top of the 2nd inning. His team didn't win many games. There were only 4 teams total and the only team they could beat (and did several times) was the undefeated team, lol. It was great to watch each game. Maddox had friends to play with and had free roam of the ball park with them so I actually got to watch all the games :) It is true you don't have to pay a lot of money to go to a pro game for a good game of baseball. You just have to drive your player to the game.

The End of Tball

And just like that, it is over :( Would have loved for Maddox to have a full season but that isn't how they do it here. Maddox got to play first base several times and he ate up the action. Otherwise he was playing in the dirt, lol.

The last day they (and siblings) come in swimsuits and its all about water balloons, water guns and popsicles. They end with the coaches doing a home run derby.

VBS - Cave Quest

The boys participated in VBS at church this week. They came home each day pumped up and stumbling over each other telling me what they did each day. They love VBS so, so much!

Tball - the Blue Rabbits

Maddox started tball this week. Its just a 2 week daily program and he is enjoying it. One of his best friends from preschool is on his team. He is all about cheering for his team from the outfield and it only takes him half way through practice or a game to get his hat turned backwards or to the side. Serious business! His first time playing the field as right outfield, the ball was hit to shortstop and he ran across the field for the ball, lol. It only took a couple of times for him to learn he needed to stay in position.

Minnesota Trip

We had a mini vacation in Minnesota and it was just what we needed to kick off the summer. We enjoyed the Mall of America and ValleyFair. The boys may be tapped out on amusement parks for awhile though. It had been about 20 yrs since I had been at the Mall of America so I was excited to go back and to show the boys. We hit up Hard Rock, the mirror maze, bought some Lego sets from the Lego store and rode rides all day long. Their favorite was a roller coaster that went all around the amusement park. I think we rode it atleast 6 times.

I take them to the largest candy store in MN where there are 155 different root beers. They chose the Dog n Suds ones! We can get that right here in town, lol. I didn't let them get the Triple XXX (local to us too) one since we still have some in the frig.

We couldn't wait to get to the Mirror Maze. Macen landed on his butt and Maddox had a couple of conks on the head from running into mirrors. I am mean and think its a blast to go to these with kids.  They don't quite get it and that leads to some great belly laughs. Hilarious!

Macen did the rope course and loved it.

Valley Fair

There were 2 water rides that the boys loved. Maddox couldn't go on one but was able to get wet from it. He was over the moon when he could go with the boys on the other one. The boys' day was made when they each won a stuffed Pokemon figure from the games.

We made a couple side trips in Wisconsin for beer and cheese. I wasn't able to go into the Leinenkugels gift shop because they ended up closed so I only got a pic of the brewery. So no beer but we did get some cheese. You can't pass through Wisconsin without getting some.
