Countdown

I am not a fan of the countdown chains for deployments when kids are involved. In our experience, James rarely makes it home on the "given" date. But in this case I made an exception because of Maddox. Thankfully, Macen is old enough that I was able to explain to him we may need to take off extra days or add on extra days at the last minute. The boys are really, really done with this deployment. We are still doing daddy kisses but unless I set them out, they have lost interest in it. Maddox has been saying he misses daddy multiple times a day since January and I have been telling him since February he will be home soon. I'm pretty sure he doesn't believe me anymore since James still isn't home. They are excited they get to tear off their own strip every day so hopefully this will help pass the next few weeks.

Afternoon Fun!

Maddox got brave and was jumping from the top of the stairs into the pile.

It took the cats about 2 minutes into Maddox's lunch break before they started wrestling in the paper. And every time I came near the living room, they would both stare at me like I was going to take away their fun any minute.

Macen's "belly flop"

Making it snow - apparently they didn't get enough of it this winter.

I think they enjoyed it! No hesitations on helping pick it up either.

Macen thought it was hilarious to pile it on me while I was talking pics of them.

Bad Idea

So I thought I'd try a night where everyone slept in mom's bed. I think Macen and the cats are the only ones who got a good night sleep. I have no idea how people co sleep. I was kicked and elbowed as Maddox tossed and turned all night. Finally, a little after 4am he was struggling to get back to sleep so I asked if he wanted to go to his bed. He said yes and we were both able to get some solid sleep finally.

The furry boys didn't seem to mind

Build A Dino

The boys got to build a dino at the TRex Café. They loved it! I wasn't sure Macen would like it but he was all about it during the process. They got to push the pedal to pump stuffing in, brush it and pick out some clothes and sunglasses for them. Maddox had his tag along on errands this morning already. He also told me his was "awesome dude, like me". Haha!

KC Library and Science City

Macen got an early start on Spring Break so we headed to the KC Public Library to check out the book walls and then to Science City.

Science City

They would have stayed at the water table all day if I had let them.

Talking back and forth to each other across the playground.

Snow Day Fun

Microwaved Soap

A bar of ivory soap turns into a pile of fluff. I've tried this before with Macen and he wasn't overly interested this time either. Maddox on the other hand made it snow soap. It was another one of those 10 mins of fun and 40 mins of clean up kind of projects, lol. The kitchen smelled good though!

Bubbly fun

We made elephant toothpaste using hydrogen peroxide.

And then the traditional baking soda and vinegar. This one gave us a nice little explosion as it exited the top of the bottle and the boys loved that.

Ice Blocks

Another favorite that keeps them occupied for a long time.

A good way to end a snowy day!! :)

Road Block

There was a road block while we played trains. Maddox kept pushing the trains right up to Mo and saying "through, through". He refused to budge of course. He stayed for as long as he felt was necessary.

Indoor Baseball

with a sword. Surprisingly, it was Maddox's idea that Macen was all too eager to participate in.

Maddox thought blue raspberry marshmallows make good balls to bat at too.
