Halloween Activites

We went trick or treating at the Ag Hall and Fame this weekend.

The boys got to grind some corn.

The boys enjoyed a train ride (it went pretty fast). Notice how a ninja secures his sword, lol.

The Boo Barn. All was going well until the end when a monster stood up and growled at Macen. He wasn't impressed so much after that. This was his first haunted house so wasn't sure how he would like it.

We made cupcakes in our scary and silly feet.

A right of passage in childhood, right?!

This has been one of many pinterest inspired Halloween projects. The pumpkin and ghost have been done for awhile but thanks to my husband generously emptying a bottle of Jim Beam, Frankenstein was added in.

Yalla Yalla

I was told by the 15 month old to "hurry up, lets go" yesterday...in Arabic. James says this all the time to us when we are getting ready to leave. I had gotten Maddox's shoes and jacket on him but told him we need to wait a few minutes before we left. Apparently that wasn't good enough because he had his sippy of milk and handed me my water bottle (we always take these with us) and then said "awe-a, awe-a" (his yalla, yalla) and headed for the door.

He also started saying chocolate this week. He leaves out the l but it's pretty clear what he is saying.

Pumpkin Carving...and decorating!

Let's see - washable markers didn't work because he just wanted to suck on them and he wasn't interested in using a crayon on the pumpkin.

So he just decided to chew on it, lol. Not enough time in the day to make the edible paints so maybe we'll try those next year.

Macen and dad hard at work.

Macen couldn't wait for Maddox to be done with the little pumplin so he could make a monster out of it.

His finished projects.

                                                             James' finished projects!

Goal!

Macen had his last soccer game last night. He really enjoyed learning the sport and playing. And just as with tball, he chilled out as the season went on not worrying about always getting the ball or if the other team scored.

Not only did Macen end up on the ground but he also got tangled in the net twice and had to be rescued.

He absolutely could not wait to get his medal for playing.

Haunted House - the yummy kind!

Macen and I spent some time making our first haunted house. Lots of fun!

We started off with this. Love that you can buy these! I'm not a fan of gingerbread and seriously who wants to bake something you can't taste test along the way :) Nor did I want the hassle of it potentially falling apart.

Macen had a blast decorating it. He had some great ideas for it although I am not sure what the purpose of his "L's" (as he called them) around some of the windows, lol.

Our finished project complete with ghosts.

Gutentag (Hello)

The boys in their German attire.

Macen actually mentioned last night he would be okay moving back to Germany. Maybe he misses the traveling as much as we do???

Parent Teacher Conferences

Macen has been in school a little over 2 months now and is thriving. He loves school and all the new friends he has made. It's pretty amazing what is taught in school now compared to when James and I were in kindergarten. Macen is already writing sentences and I'm sure we were just learning our alphabet back then.

Hard to believe in just over 4 years this is how far Macen has come.

15 months

We are well into toodler hood! Maddox's temperment is starting to come out. So far he is into hitting or throwing things when he is told no/not to do something. Hopefully we work through that sooner rather than later, lol.

He gave up the bottle with no issues in the past month. We'll see if that can be said for the paci. While he does not use it to sleep, he does hold onto it and his little blankie while he sleeps so he can use it as soon as he wakes up. It may have become more of a security object for the hand rather than the mouth.

He started coloring recently and he really liked it. His vocabulary has surprised me a bit and maybe I just dont remember when Macen started repeating things more and more. Maddox says all kinds of things like clothes, socks, quack quack. The other night he was getting medicine and when it was gone, he asked for more. When I laughed and said no more medicine, he dissolved into a crying fit. Funny stuff! He also answers Yessss when we ask him questions instead of shaking his head yes or no.

Our little man is 22lbs (25%) and 32" (85%).
