1st Day of Preschool

To say he was excited would be an understatement. He has been waiting for this moment for a year now.  He told me all about what they did after I picked him up. And we celebrated by going to Dog n Suds to get one of his favorites - a corn dog. A very happy boy today!

A Red Tooth Fairy

While telling his speech teacher about his loose tooth, Macen said she told him there is a way to see what color your tooth fairy is. You just have to put your tooth in a glass of water and wait until morning. Macen was eager to try it and his speech teacher was right, it does turn colors :)

Battalion Activation and Awards Ceremony

With Purdue beginning classes tomorrow, the Battalion flag was uncased during a ceremony.  The first picture are the ROTC cadets James will be overseeing for the next several years.

Our New Family Member

Here is Trooper, a full of energy Weimaraner. We have had him a little over a week now so he is 9 weeks old and he has kept life busy. We are crazy (pointing at James)! Macen and Maddox aren't sure what to think of a dog in the house so they are still adjusting. Especially as they run around with a puppy nipping along beside them. Mo and Myles aren't impressed with him and went on a 2 day hunger strike after we got him home. Myles has gotten very close to his face to sniff him and I think they will end up being good playmates. Not so sure about Mo, lol. Both cats hiss at Trooper and occasionally take a swipe at him (they have no front claws so he is safe). This has Trooper now believing this is the way they play with him so he starts barking and raising his paw at them which makes them even angrier, lol.

He did great on the trip back from Mo in the kennel and continues to use it well. He also has done very well with potty training. We've had a couple of what the hell did we do moments though. There have been several times when all humans and furry people are in the same room - even all on the same side of a room - when Macen is making Maddox whine nonstop and a cat is hissing at a hyper puppy so the other cat starts hissing. Complete and total chaos! Which can only continue to sum up our life for the next year or so :)

A 2nd Grader

Yesterday was Macen's first day at a his new school. I'm not sure he was ready to start back since we didn't have much of a summer but he had a pretty good day. The bus stop is right in front of our house so he is pretty excited to ride it to and from school.

Deanna Rose Farmstead

We squeezed in some time at the farm in the city while in MO. We love this place!

All the boys were disappointed fishing was closed for the day but the Macen and Maddox enjoyed feeding the ducks and geese.

This guy was literally just hanging out there for awhile.

Indiana Sand Dunes

We headed to Lake Michigan to play in the sand and water. We even scooted into the state of Michigan for another Hard Rock located in a casino. While I thought the water was cold, the 3 boys weren't fazed by it at all. The boys spent several hours playing in the sand and water. We had a picnic lunch and then headed to another beach with a lighthouse.

There was a lookout we trekked up and it was worth it.

After the beach we found an ice cream parlor. It was yummy!

The boys indulged my need to see this lighthouse. It ended up being pretty small and none of them were impressed. We also arrived mid day and at the end of a boat race in the lake so we had to park pretty far away. We were all exhausted after the long walk there and back to the car.
