Happy Halloween

Guess you can't take the ninja moves out of a boy regardless of the character you're playing

Pumpkin Carving and Decorating

The boys were only interested in adding monster eyes, ears and noses to pumpkins this year. So I was left to carve by myself and I like the traditional ones, so here is my masterpiece :) Quick and simple! I made an attempt to decorate a pumpkin by using masking tape and spray paint but it was a Pinterest fail. The masking tape (dollar store brand) held perfectly to a cold pumpkin but the spray paint went through it and botched it. And I think I used too much spray paint as well so it ran in the creases. I was thinking about painting the orange squares so they were more solid but it's staying the way it is and joining the others outside. Sometimes failing is acceptable. Haha!

Haunted House

Maddox wasn't interested in decorating. He just wanted to check out the candy and then he took off while Macen and I worked on it.

Macen decided he really liked frosting and he kept eating it. Good thing we weren't serving anyone because there was a whole lotta double dipping going on.

Maddox came back long enough to add some pieces to this side and then Macen had to add more pieces so it looked even. He got that part of his OCD from both his parents.

Chuck E Cheese

After Parent Teacher Conferences we headed to the fun place! Maddox was obsessed with the car game. He kept putting coins in but I'm not sure he was going anywhere. While Maddox was doing that and I was nearby playing a game, Macen hit the jackpot on the wheel spinner. He came running over with 100 tickets. Totally made his day!

As for the conference, his teacher said he is doing great. He is moving along with both reading and math and she enjoys having him in class. He still loves everything about school so we are very happy about that.

On the non-educational side, this year (aka, new set of classmates) has continued to provide Macen with new knowledge. They have taught him to burp on his own. While I am not a fan of it, I prefer this over the constant fascination him and the boys in last years class had with farting or really anything to do with the rear end. Right now, I get to blame his classmates because some of them have older siblings that this stuff has been passed down. When Maddox is in school I will have to accept the blame because Macen will have passed it down. Ahhhh, the life with boys!

Red Barn Farm

We headed to Weston to see some animals and work our way through a corn maze.

Maddox was fascinated by all the animals. Before we even left home, he was asking if there would be cows, pigs and chickens.

Macen was our leader once again - a recurring theme each year.

This seem to be his signature pose while we were here. Maddox took a belly dive into some mud about 10 mins after we arrived. How he missed his face is beyond me but his shoes, pants, hands and pullover got it pretty bad. I will say it left a pretty cool imprint on the pullover and surprisingly it all came out.

He wanted his turn with the map.
