Happy Easter!

Maddox almost has these mastered now. He is a determined little guy!

Macen running up the slide highly amused Maddox.

And after 2 trips down the slide like this where he landed face first in the dirt, it was time to go home. He tries to get down the slide as fast as possible and doesn't get his legs in front of him in time.

Cool ride!

Volcano Egg Coloring

with the use of vinegar and baking soda. We made our "paint" of baking soda, a little water and food coloring. We painted the eggs and then dropped vinegar on top for it to bubble and spread the colors. Macen was putting too much vinegar on his - who doesn't want to see lots of bubbling - but it ended up washing the coloring away pretty good.

So we started adding drops of food coloring directly to the eggs, then sprinkling baking soda on and then adding the drops of vinegar. Worked much better!

Here are a couple were we went from painting them to just adding the drops of colors.

Macen dropped one and he didn't want to finish it so I added food coloring to the cracks. We got this result! I told him it looked like a turtle shell and I made him a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle egg. He told me next time I need to make it even cooler by adding brown and blue to it (that is Leonardo's color).

Life Size Coloring

I traced the boys so they could color themselves silly. It was Maddox's first time with markers and he loved that. (They are washable)

Macen drew himself as a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle because it is all about the turtles these days. His picture was complete with both elbow and knee pads as well as 2 swords sticking up from his back.

Mo didn't want the boys having all the fun, lol. Oh yes I did! He refused to get off the paper so I traced him. You act like one of the kids, you get treated like one :)

Catching Snowflakes

Macen wanted to catch snowflakes when it started snowing yesterday. He said he caught 5 :)

Moon Marble Company

Took the boys to watch how a marble is made. Macen's favorite part was when the guy used the torch. Afterwards, Macen got to fill a tube of marbles of his choosing from a wall of marbles.

Thankfully we got all our fun stuff accomplished in the middle of the week because both boys have been sick. Macen started the week off with a fever and he passed along what he had for Maddox to end the week with a fever.

Sea Life Aquarium

Macen brought Flat Stanley along with us. His homework while on Spring Break is to journal about Flat Stanley's adventures.

The boys enjoyed the aquarium. Maddox exclaimed "Wow" as soon as we walked in and he loved the Stingrays swimming over us. So we had a good day that left us all exhausted.

Legoland

We spent the day at Crown Center seeing Legoland and Sea Life Aquarium.

He makes quite the facial expressions when he is doing things these days.

Maddox playing in the kiddie area while Macen played on the big enclosed playset.

Building a car for the tracks

Legoland was okay but not overly impressed with it. We are probably a bit biased since we've been to a big Legoland in Germany. This was basically a glorified indoor park. Macen loved it and that is what matters.

Wonderscope

We headed to the children's museum today. The boys liked the Raceway and Lego rooms. The raceway was ramps and tracks that golf balls rolled down, around, looped, etc. Macen was really excited when he saw the Lego room except he never touched a Lego! He found the above suction tubes and never left them.

Coloring Eggs #1

Maddox did some stamping on his egg. He cracked that egg so many times applying too much pressure, lol.

We did half of them just regular coloring but then tried some with margarine. Of course trail and error came with it. We let the eggs soak and didn't really notice anything different about them. Then Macen put an egg in a mixture and decided to put it in another color instead so he immediately removed it and we saw the cool markings we were hoping for (that part was missing from the instructions). Apparently they just need a quick dunk in the margarine coloring.

Macen dropped this one taking it out of the cup. Only a small part of the eggshell cracked but the fractures showed through the coloring.

This one turned out really well.
